Frequently Asked Questions

How are teams selected?

Major division: Teams are selected by try outs and a draft selection. No player may request assignment to or selection by a particular team. A returning major division player will be assigned to the same team as last year.

Minor Division: Teams are selected by try outs and a draft selection. Any players not selected by a major division team will then be a part of the minor league draft. No player may request assignment to or selection by a particular team. Siblings within the division will be assigned to the same team, unless otherwise requested.

Rookie division: All players will be assigned to teams on a random basis, with the view of equalizing the number of 7 and 8 year olds on each team. Team requests can be made, but no commitment is made that those requests will be honored. Siblings within the division will be assigned to the same team.

T Ball division: All players will be assigned to teams on a random basis, with the view of equalizing the number of 5 and 6 year olds on each team. Team requests can be made, but no commitment is made that those requests will be honored. Siblings within the division will be assigned to the same team.

Can I request that my 10 year old play in the Minor League?

Players 9 years old may request minor division only. Our experience in past years has been that a number of older players who would be contributing players in major division have requested minor division only. This can result in skewing the competitive balance of both the major and the minor division, and also in a player who might be better suited to the minor division playing in the major division.

The number of practices can vary depending on coaches and division; typically each team will play 2 games each week and practice 1-2 times per week. Major division teams may practice more.

Is it permissable for my player to participate in other sports while playing baseball for an Eastern Little League team?

While participation in other sports or activities is not prohibited or even discouraged by Little League, parents should understand that Little League baseball does entail a time commitment. For example, our experience is that it is very difficult to play on both a major division team and select soccer.

Are families required to work in the concession stand?

Since so many families chose to pay out their concession stand requirement last season the league decided to increase dues by $30 for Rookie, Minor and Majors thus removing the requirement to work 2 games in the concession stand. If you work your two games the fee will be returned. Tball does not have to pay the $30 concession stand fee.
